Kindergarten Practices and Guidelines
The KG provides a warm homelike atmosphere and an opportunity for the children to learn through imitation and activity. Creative play is inspired by the environment of both the home and the KG and plays a major role in the KG. Through creative play children are able to work through and develop capacities necessary for later life.

Rhythm
The child is reassured by the recurring rhythm of the day, the week and the year through the repetition of seasonal activities, festivals, and songs.

Teachers also work with a regular rhythm to morning and weekly activities, for example: music and verse accompanied by movement and gesture; stories, puppets, practical activities of gardening, cooking, sewing, washing and cleaning; artistic activities of drawing, painting and modelling.

All are experienced with joy and enthusiasm within a regular rhythm upon which the child can rely.

Administration of Ballyhall Kindergarten

Ballyhall Kindergarten is a Community Kindergarten administrated by parents entirely on a voluntary basis. It is non-profit making, and is registered as a Charity - No. 11977. The initiative was started in 1995 by parents in the locality with a commitment to running a high-quality playgroup and kindergarten.

The kindergarten is run by a committee, consisting of parents and other interested individuals. All parents are expected to attend monthly committee meetings, which are held on the first Monday of every month at approximately 8.30pm. Tasks related to the running of the kindergarten - for example grass-cutting, laundry of towels, collection of fees, etc. need to be taken on by parents.

The kindergarten has close connections with the nearby Camphill Community in Ballytobin and in the past some children have moved on to continue their primary education there.
