Lutherie, an Introduction: Make your own Lyre
On Saturday April 12th, from 10am-5pm and Sunday April 13th, from 9.30am-3pm the Irish Steiner Kindergarten Association Presents at Raheen Wood School, Tuamgraney, Co Clare, a two day workshop with Ian Castles. Come and explore the rhythmical nature of the process of wood-carving and the relationships between materials, form and tone by carving and stringing a seven string Lyre. No prior experience necessary - materials and tools provided. Bring a pair of leather gardening gloves and something for a bring-and-share lunch.

New Dublin City Steiner Kindergarten?
Are you interested in a Steiner/Waldorf Kindergarten in Dublin? On Saturday, April 19th from 2pm to 4pm, Jonathan Angus, Steiner Teacher and Course Director of ISKA's Early Childhood Education Programme of teacher training, will give an overview of Steiner education, followed by a discussion of opportunities for a Steiner Kindergarten in Dublin City. A strong group is forming in Dublin with enthusiasm for this kind of holistic (pre)school experience for their children. Come and learn how Steiner/Waldorf education honours and protects the wonder of childhood, encourages creativity and free-thinking, and develops a genuine love of learning within each child. Movement and Music in the Steiner Kindergarten
Saturday, April 26th, in Cork City, Eurythmist Eileen Boland and Musicologist Niall Boland will be facilitating a one day workshop focusing on quality of movement, and the use of eurythmy and music in the Steiner Kindergarten. An Introduction to Steiner Education
Two courses, sponsored by the Organic Centre in Co Leitrim:
Saturday, March 29th 2008 - Bridgetown, near Killaloe, Co Clare
Saturday, April 26th 2008 - The Organic Centre, Rossinver, Co Leitrim
Both will be held from 10am - 5pm. The course is perfect for parents considering educational options for their children and anyone else working with children from 4-12 years old. Steiner education offers an academic and practical education for the whole child. It develops solid academic values while cultivating a sense of wonder, and equips the child to face our changing world. Pearse O'Shiel will bring an overview of childhood education, followed in the afternoon by an opportunity to experience with Grace Burton some of the activities and crafts that are employed in Steiner education. Three Day Breathing Circle Workshop at Emerson College, UK
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, May 2 - 4, Nell Smyth will lead a workshop for teachers and parents of children from toddlers to 7 years. Detailed information is given on the Emerson website.

The Breath and the Word: Inspiration in the Learning of Language
July 1st though 5th, Tuesday through Saturday, Nell Smyth will be giving a course sponsored by the Limerick Education Centre at the Castleoaks Hotel in Castleconnell. The course will facilitate working with language expressively and creatively for pre-literacy and literacy. Topics include; strengthening receptivity to language for child and teacher through play and movement; building competency and confidence in the power of speech and expression through interactions, poetry, storytelling, and drama; understanding how language, rooted in movement and the breath, can develop cognitive abilities and and healthy enjoyment; working with the playful rhythms and expressive potential of language to build a social world that meets the emotional and imaginative life of the child; and learning to choreograph lessons in order to effectively integrate all of these elements. Nell is a Steiner Teacher and consultant with over twenty years experience, and the author of The Breathing Circle: learning through the movement of the natural breath
Cost for all five days: €50!
